I have been using this for long enough to know how well it is put together. Sometimes I don't need the 4x24. This is great for vertical and overhead work. It is very light. Tracking is spot on after you set it. Collects a high percentage of dust too. I would definately buy again.

I'm new at belt sanders, this is the first I've ever owned. Its first job is to prep a 500 square foot subfloor for hardwood. Two areas within this 500 sq ft had additional subflooring (ugly particle board, glued on) that was installed as a base for linoleum and tile. This particle board was mostly removed with chisels and pry bars. With a 36 grit paper, I've been making short and effective work finishing off the entire floor, including the particle board remnants and chunks of hardened glue.
The dust collection system in this unit is very effective - just a guess, but I'll say that 95% ends up in the bag.
The motor is very strong - it's necessary to hang on tight when using the sander. It can run for a long time without ever getting too hot.
I have never had to adjust the tracking of the sanding belts - they go on very quickly and easily, and stay aligned.
Next comes some finesse work for the sander, as I prepare the steps on a new pine spiral staircase for painting, along with some window seats.
I've begun to accumulate Makita tools - they seem to be very good value for money, and operate with precision.
